->> I'm just curious about the software people use in their workflow. This is what I have and try to use correctly (I'm learning still)...
1. Nikon Capture (use this alot)
2. Adobe Photoshop CS (use this alot)
3. Noise Ninja 1.1.2 (don't always use)
4. Iview Media Pro 2.5 (Catalogs)
5. ACDSee 6.0 (Nice for simple viewing)
6. PicToExe 4.20 (useful for nice slideshows)
7. Photorescue (just in case Murphy comes for a visit)
That's what I use. Though, Photoshop/Nikon Capture are by far the most used. |

| ->> I'm with you on that one David. Then after that I edit down using PHOTO MECHANIC, then caption using the same, and then I use Photoshop to rotate images and color corect. That is about all I use. Not much else is needed. But that ACDSee sounds nice to batch rotate. Does it let you rotate your vertical images only without touching your horizontal shots? |

->> Caleb, yes, ACDSee allows you to select which images to rotate. Highlight them in thunmbnail mode and it will only do those.
As for me:
PhotoShop
ACDSee
PIE
Noise Ninja |

->> A new program that I don't see listed here is called Pixort. I just discovered this freeware program last week and I've used it on a couple jobs. The unique feature that it offers is the ability to sort your photos into as many as 5 different subdirectories while going through a slideshow. You just hit 1-5(on the keyboard or on the screen) and it marks the file. When you are done with the slideshow, you have the option to move or copy the marked files.
I like this a lot because it saves me time when going though a project, looking for "keepers". It simply speeds up the process of copying or sorting the files.
It is a new program and is still under development, but it is free. You can find it here:

->> Ive been using Pixort for quite a while. It originated on the dpreview boards when someone asked what program was needed that really wasn't produced. There are plenty of programs for filing and organizing, and plenty for editing images, but not many great culling programs for wading through the crap so you only spend time on the pictures worth keeping.
I can load up a few hundred images at a time and after about a min of loading there is absolutely no delay moving from image to image, and these are large images too not thumbnails (and my pc isn't blazing by any means). I assign numbers 1-3 to folders, 1 for definately keep, 2 for decide later, and 3 for delete. Go through taping 1, 2 or 3 and can sort through the few hundred images in a couple mins.
Besides that I use C1 if im shooting raw and Adobe Photoshop 7 (although just got CS in and need to install it) as well as WINAMP (the early versions at least of itunes for the pc were crap, havn't seen if they have updated/fixed it). |
