->> Just wondering what program for PC allows you to bulk caption?
I use ACDSee 4.0 right now, and its an okay program for me . . . I have the program that came with my 1D but never got used to it, and many of my image that show up on ACDSee just show up as '?' on the Canon softwear, not sure what thats all about.
What are others using to view images (shooting jpeg right now but may soon switch to RAW),edit, and open from there into photoshop on PC.

->> Pike I find for "softwear" fleece tracksuits are nice and soft to wear. :-)
For editing software the industry standard sure seems to be Photo Mechanic. It is very slick to use when handling Jpegs. You can have your captions and IPTC info ready in advance and easily apply it all your pictures. |

->> so photo mechanic seems to be a huge favorite. I have always used ACDSee just cause thats what i was able to get free, and was un-aware it was out there for PC (photo mechanic) . . . will have to try the trial and see how that works for me.
Ever since the 2003 Luau at the digital workflow workshop and seeing that batch caption feature, I have wanted to try it, so its about time I did try it out.
Thanks all for your input.

->> Pike,
One caveat: Unless things have changed in the past couple of months, Photo Mechanic cannot process RAW files.
I use Nikon gear and have been shooting RAW (NEF) since late last year. I tried the demo version of PM, and have since stuck with PhotoShop CS instead to utilize the built-in RAW file processing capabilities. |

| ->> Photo Mechanic works on RAW .nef files on the Mac. My work version on PC is 4.0.8, and on that PC version, it won't caption RAW nef files, but will let you sort through them. I have not updated for a few months on the PC side-it is up to 4.1.2 now, so they may have found a way around the problem they have with PC. Bob at Camerabits can fill you in if you call him - he's very helpful. Their phone number is 503-531-8430. |
