Corrupt Images - Help!!

->> Hey-
After tonight's Red Sox game I slipped my CF card in the drive like I always do, copied over the files, and started to edit through them. Part way through the viewing (the copied files on the hard drive), I got error messages. The first few images are fine, but the rest seem to have corrupted headers. I tried Photorescue, Handy Recovery, and Digital Image Recovery, and none of them have helped. In fact, now, neither the computer nor the camera recognize that the CF card is formatted (both pop up messages asking if I would like to format the card).
Basically, what I now have is a directory of images like this:
http://www.drbphoto.com/F47A5431.JPG
and a seemingly non-formatted, photorescue-proof card. Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone know how to fix it? I'm a pretty heavy chimper, and I'm positive I at least rolled through every image on that card once or twice (I mentally edit between innings so that I know which photos to look for later). There were no error messages on the camera before I removed the card.
I'm going to call Lexar in the morning, but does anyone recognize this catastrophe? Thanks!!

->> I had this happen to me when I first got my 10d. I had been using a card in a D-100 poped it in a shot away. When I went to upload I got the same thing you did. Photorescue didnt help ether. I changed computers and it worked (there was something wrong with that pc and my cardreader) but it not working on your camera is disturbing. Have you tired another card in that cam to make sure its not hardwear ?

->> Matthew-
I tried 2 other different cards in the camera, and both worked -- I shot 100 images on each card, and the computer opened every one of them.
I tried the corrupt card in 2 different readers - a PNY and a Dazzle, and both come up with the option to format the disk.
Thanks for the input though - I'll test both readers on a few different computers and see if it has an effect.

->> Try Lexar's Image Rescue 2.0. It beats the pants off the others I've tried, including it's earlier versions. I had a full 2 gig card unreadable. Photo Rescue and the earlier version Image rescue came up with the half the photos (the same half!) Image Rescue was lake calling the cavalry. It rounded up all the damn little electrons and the photos were in perfect condition.

->> Daniel,
I ran into a problem like this once before at work. It happened when the computer I was downloading to (Mac, OSX) froze while I was mid-transfer. I forced a reboot, but apparently the file tables on the CF card are opened in some kind of read AND WRITE mode while the card is being read. I managed to finish transferring what I thought were all of the files over (correct file size, even had preview icons...) but found that 90% of the files after the first 10 or so (when the system crashed) were corrupt. I Couldn't recover with any of the recovery software I had available at the time, on Mac or PC. Sorry, I can't remember what software I tried, this was several months ago.
I tried popping the card back in the camera and my D-100 didn't recognize ANY images at all, not even the "good" ones.
Anyway, to get back on-topic, I'm wondering if you experienced some kind of card-reader failure mid-transfer or something like that? Your problem doesn't sound exactly like mine, but close enough to be related perhaps. I was lucky in that the shots on MY card were just of a bunch of cute girls at a conference my paper was hosting and nothign uber-critical.
Good Luck,

->> Hey everyone! I have a related question. I received a call from an editor saying that when he put in my cd (Quick Time slideshow) that he received a "corrupt image" message. I check every cd before I mail it out. I am sending him another today. What's the deal? Anyone? Thanks in advance. Cheers. Julia
