Saving the Building Jim Seiter, a worker at Rickhoff Sheet Metal located near 152nd St. and S. Halsted St. in Harvey, Ill., sprays water on the roof of the company in an attempt to protect it from a fire raging out of control in acres of debris just across the street, Thursday, May 24, 2007. The debris was ignited after embers from several factory fires nearly three blocks to the south were carried skyward by forty mile-per-hour wind gusts. "We stay 'til the end to save the building," commented Seiter. Winds remained out of the west, sparing the business and allowing fire crews to gain the upper hand on all the fires in the area.
