[10/21/09] Picked one of these up about a year ago, and really couldn't be happier with it. Almost as big and heavy as the 70-200, but that's because it's just as solidly built. Definitely the most versatile range available on a fast lens today. Stays on my D3 a good percentage of the time. |

[10/20/08] Perfect for using with the D3. Extremely sharp and sturdy and just a useful lens in general. This is really one of Nikon's best lenses (along with the 70-200 f/2.8 VR).
If you can convince yourself to spend the money on it, go for it. This lens never leaves my main body. I only rate it a 9 because I'm assuming nothing can be perfect, but otherwise, its a 10. |

[01/03/08] Stunning lens. Bigger than the 17-55 DX it replaces if you make the transition to FX, but makes up for it with stunning IQ, fast focussing and amazing build quality.
The hood's a little tricky to fit at times, but that's a minor niggle. |
