It has been said that every picture tells a story. If so, this collection of stark and startling photographs recounts an uncommonly rich life filled with vivid memories and intriguing encounters. In this book, renowned photographer Jeanloup Sieff creates a unique, intriguing monograph that retraces in words and images his long, rewarding career in the fields of fashion, advertising, and portraiture. Divided into four chapters, here are Sieff's most arresting images from the 1950s, '60s, '70s, and '80s--some well known, others published here for the first time. Introducing each section with a luminous, introspective essay, Sieff provides interesting autobiographical information and places his work in the context of the time. This volume bears witness to the tireless questing of a visionary artist amid the delightful shadowy spaces and mysterious images of black and white.

[10/04/02] This book rocks. It is HUGE, which may hinder your ability to put it on a shelf, but it is well worth it. Everything in this book is beautiful. Sieff rocks. If you really like beautiful black and white photography, go get this book. |
