The story behind Magnum's greatness and the photojournalists who shaped it, including Eve Arnold, Robert Capa, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. "Wonderful ... Reading Magnum feels like the equivalent of watching a mesmerizing newsreel of the last six decades of the twentieth century—a movie which includes the sights, sounds, and even the smells of war"—Charles Kaiser, The New York Observer

[08/08/07] It´s one of my first english books to read about PJ - and it pulled me into magnum from the first page on.
The "big" story and the tiny stories alongside create a nice mix, also focussing on many of the most important photographers of the 20th century. Whether it´s Capa and the girls, Cartier-Bresson beeing the strange french guy he was or the agency, struggling to survive: It is like traveling through History. And it´s a real bargain! |

[05/17/04] Awesome book, I just finished reading it. It is interesting to get such an in depth look at the history and the people behind Magnum. I loved reading about the situations that they had to deal with and how through it all they somehow managed to persevere. |

[10/16/02] Fascinating read. Great reference book. These giants of the industry had the same frustrations and problems that exist today. Check out their solutions. It should make you smile. |
