Chased by the Light: A 90-Day Journey
Title | Chased by the Light: A 90-Day Journey
Author | Jim Brandenburg
Type | Book
Rating | 10
Notes | Award-winning nature photographer Jim Brandenburg gave himself a challenge--for 90 days between the autumnal equinox and the winter solstice, he would take only one photograph each day. This exquisite book is the result of that bold and immensely personal project as he witnesses the cycle of nature near his home in the northwoods of Minnesota. 90 color photos.

Comments | [10/27/06] I like to flip through this book every once in a while just to remind myself what it was like when I first started taking pictures - less of a preconceived notion of what a good photo is supposed to be, no formula of what worked before, just taking pictures with bulk-rolled black and white film in basic equipment - just because it was fun. The photos in this book convey a sense of purity in photography from a stripped down method. The results are beautiful photos, even, as the previous reviewer stated, the imperfect ones.

Comments | [10/05/06] This book is simply amazing, from concept to completion. The images are spectacular, and even the 'imperfect' images shine as part of this unique experiment and exploration of the photographic mindset. I pull this book off the shelf very often, just to get a sense of perspective on all of this crazy go-go-go media lifestyle.
