| Josh Birnbaum/Pittsburgh Tribune-Review | Mark and Gale Shanaway hold down their son, Jerome Shanaway, while they attempt to take his temperature. Jerome wasn't feeling well and threw a fit when they tried to give him medicine and stick the thermometer under his arm. Jerome was abused as a child by his birth parents, and he is left with Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, Epilepsy, and Neurological Impairment. Jerome is 7 years old and he cannot talk. Mark and Gale, his adopted parents, have difficulty understanding what is wrong when he has a problem. Copyright: Josh Birnbaum |
