February, 2006 [ recent winners ] << previous Third Place: "Allergic to the Cold" Tim Gruber/The Janesville Gazette | Walworth, WI - 02/18/06 - Tamara Pankonin, a Walworth native, is allergic to the cold. She suffers from an acquired allergy called 'cold urticaria.' The cause is unknown, and there is no cure. Pankonin first discovered her allergy after participating in the 2002 Polar Plunge. She and her family plan to move to Arizona in May to ease her symptoms.
