Third Place: "Tornado"

| Matthew Hinton | Around 2 am, Pine Street resident Jacob Gower was awakened by a possible tornado and quickly woke his fiancée and grabbed his dogs and they all hid in a closet. Gower said, “It didn’t sound exactly like a freight train, but it felt like standing next to a train. You definitely had a sense of size next to you. It was jarring, I was sound asleep and it lasted 3 minutes after I woke up.” The wind event also uprooted some trees and utility poles that fell on vehicles on Cohn Street near Pine Street and Lowerline Street in the Carrolton / Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans. As many of 15,000 residents were without power on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 and possibly the same tornado touched down again in Algiers Point across the river.
