First Place: "Dancing in the Dark"

| Chip Litherland/Sarasota Herald-Tribune | As light from a skylight falls on her, Sandhya Nicholas dances at a party Saturday night in Bradenton for her friends Anita Rajan and Shaan Kunwar, who were married the next day as part of a traditional Indian Hindu wedding ceremony. Only ten years years ago, this ceremony wouldn't have even been possible, because of the lack of an Indian population in Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counites. With the growth of the Indian population in the area, the wedding drew hundreds of Indian families with enough knowledge of different regions' traditions to make it one of the first of its kind in Southwest Florida.
