| Sarah Miller/Tyler Morning Telegraph | A Tyler Police officer stands inside a manhole as he and others, including Tyler fire and water departments and ETMC and Trinity Mother Frances security officers, help in the search for 19-year-old Roemello Lewis of Tyler, who fled custody by hiding in the sewer Tuesday on Beckham Avenue. Lewis was taken into custody Monday night on a peace officers warrant for mental custody.
Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, deputies with the Smith County Sheriff's Office attempted to transport him from ETMC to a behavorial health center, but Lewis escaped from the deputies, stripped his clothes and ran into a wooded area where he entered the sewer.
