| Corey Perrine/Naples Daily News | Itzel Chavez, 5, plays with her brother Isaac, 7, and Citlalli, 11, Thursday, at their home in Naples, Fla. In Nov. 2010 Itzel had her right arm amputated after a malignant tumor, infantile myofibromatosis, threatened her life. Since, she's learned to write and function as a forced left handed person. She was outfitted by a prosthetic limb but rejected it, seen on the couch, because of it's technological drawbacks, lack of practical functionality. However, last fall she finally received a more practical outfitted prosthesis. However, that too has since been rejected. "When we go out, I want her to wear it. All the stares. It's annoying. I don't mind it from the kids. They start asking all these questions. I just have to put on those, like a horse, blinders." Copyright: Naples Daily News |
