Mike “Pickles” Piwcewicz, an Illinois Department of Transportation Minuteman, starts patrolling the highways on the Southside of Chicago shortly after 9 p.m. for broken down cars or other highway safety concerns, such a lights out or large debris. Piwcewicz said Minutemen drivers usually run 150 to 200 miles a night and make anywhere from eight to 20 stops in a shift.
