Comments | On the whole, I quite like these. The one with the dude smoking is the best. Frankly, the biggest thing is probably the post-production, such as the deep shadow on the faces in the second photo, which might also be benefit from a wider lens -- but what can you do if you don't have the glass?

Comments | Love the interaction in #4. Keep rockin' this story man, it's one that needs to be told.

Comments | Excellent story and subject to focus on! Good job getting access and especially getting names, something that probably wasn't super easy to do. Image 1 - I think that you could have been closer or filled the frame more when it comes to this photo... there is a lot of extra stuff that really takes away from the main subject of the dog who is guarding his owner's tent. I'm not sure it was an appropriate choice to open the story with this image either. I would have liked to have seen more of the layout of the tent city and the scope of just how many tents there are rather than this one "home" among so many trees. IMage 2 - I like this photo... it shows a nice, tender moment in a place where you might not expect to see something like this. I'm not sure that you needed the guy on the left in the frame, especially because you don't actually say who he is or what he is doing... focusing on Rick and Theresa may have made this a stronger image... and it might have worked as a vertical. Image 3 - This image intrigues me... I like the framing and the color contrast between Mr. May and the dumpster. Check your captions... here I'm pretty sure dumpster diving does not need to be capitalized. Also I'm not sure about tent city... although I may be wrong. I think I would have liked to have seen Mark's face in this image... but I do like the fact that he has a cast on his arm... I think it adds to the photo. I also would have maybe liked to have seen some of the produce that he is retrieving from the garbage. I'm on the fence about image 4... I think it's a good situation and says a lot about the tent city residents... but I'm not sure the image is super strong, there doesn't really seem to be a strong point of focus in this image... and nothing is super sharp. Image 5 is definitely your best photo of the bunch. Very strong image with great light really making that smoke show up. I love this guys face... the roughness to him... and the stars and stripes shirt. I think this is a super nice image. I think I might have cropped out the very left of the image, as I'm not sure that bag or whatever is really important and I think it detracts from the main subject. Nice photo though for sure! Image 6 - good moment... I love his super dirty hand... and fact that he seems to have a beer in the other. I think this might have benefited from some different framing however... I fail to see why you included so much of the fence on the left side and why this is important? I think this might have worked as a vertical... also watch your background... shooting this from a slightly different perspective might have cleaned this up a bit for you.

Comments | I guess my biggest problem with this picture story is the light in which it was shot. I think this photographer could've picked a better time of day - perhaps not, but I think the quality of light really detracts from the images.

Comments | The David Widmer photo is by far the strongest of the bunch. You should have used a higher camera angle on the dumpster diver, I want to see what's in the dumpster! The kissing photo should have cropped out the guy on the left, focus in on the subject. Also Papa Smurf should have been cropped in from the left, too much fence!

Comments | I might reorder the pictures but first rate work. Getting such an insular society to open up to an outsider is great work in an of itself. Every city has these stories and this is the start of a good storytelling project and focus it in deeper. I'd love to see more.
