Red Tide
A fisherman stands with his pole as the surf is lit-up by a red tide at Torry Pines State Beach in San Diego on Thursday, July 7, 2005. A red tide is created by billions of bioluminescent phytoplankton that can be seen at night. They tiny, single-celled creatures pose no health risk to swimmers or surfers, but have letf a foul, dead-fish smell around coastal areas in San Diego County.
