Enter the dust devil
Chelan Butte in the Lake Chelan Valley is known throughout the world of hang gliding and paragliding. When the hot winds rise off the Columbia River, the Butte can also develop small tornados known as dustys (dust devils). On Thursday, July 14, during the U.S. National Paragliding Championships, Ralph got caught in a larger than normal dusty. The following series of images shows what can happen during a dusty. Ralph Senter was very lucky not to have been seriously hurt while he danced with the devil.
