Seattle's Ken Lucas looks cool breaking up this pass, but the reality is the ball hit him in the shoulder pad first. 2003 pre-season game.
"Most of us take pretty good care of our cameras, lenses, computers, and forget about that 'other body' -- ours.

Do a some light stretching before the game - you don't have to "geek out" and do a full set of calisthenics or anything, but remember that you're about to get up and down from a kneeling position about 100 times during a game, not to mention the dashing back and forth carrying heavy equipment.

I've known more than one shooter with a bad back who hasn't lasted the season. For a staff photographer that would be bad enough, but for a freelancer, it's like giving yourself a layoff notice. No picture is worth an injury.

Also, I always check the weather the week up to a game. And, I DOUBLE-CHECK the game time. Sounds dumb, but in the days of television broadcasts, schedules go out-of-date quickly, so it's good to stay-up-to-date."
