Sports Illustrated staff photographer and Sports Shooter contributor Peter Read Miller in conjunction with Working with Artists™ Photographic Workshops will be conducting a 4-day workshop on Sports Photography, May 1-4 in Denver, Colorado.

"Intense Moments" Photographing Sports" will include lectures, personal instruction and actual shooting.

Peter has worked for Sports Illustrated for over 20 years, with over 85 covers to his credit. In addition to shooting 25 Super Bowls, he has covered 14 NBA Finals, six Olympics, the Stanley Cup Final, the World Series, the Kentucky Derby, the NCAA Final Four, Men's and Women's World Cup Soccer and the World Championship of Freestyle Wrestling in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia.

Peter has been an instructor at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Rich Clarkson's Sports Photography Workshop in Colorado Springs. I thought of a few other things to add to the bio. Peter has also been a guest speaker at UCLA, San Jose State, the University of Tennessee and The Eastman Kodak Corporate Headquarters in Rochester, NY. Peter lives in Manhattan Beach, California. Samples of his work can be seen at

Workshop topics will include:
* Camera and lens selection
* Angles and positioning for various sports
* Use of remotes
* Exposure for night and indoor events
* The action portrait
* Use of strobes for indoor events
* The business aspects of sports photography
* How Sports Illustrated covers an event

Mornings will be devoted to slideshows, lecture, discussion and demonstration. In the afternoons students will have the opportunity to photograph various amateur athletes and sporting events in and around the Denver area. Participant work will be reviewed each morning.
