Canon U.S.A. will provide technical support to professional photographers during the winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Operating in a 6000 square foot facility located across the street from the Salt Palace-Main Media Center, The Canon Imaging Center will provide a wide range of services and showcase a variety of Canon products. The address for the Imaging Center is 151 West 200 South Street in Salt Lake City. Hours of operation will be 8 am to 10 pm., from February 3rd through February 24th.

The approximately 600 credentialed photographers, along with an additional number of photographic technicians, will have access to Canon support, which will include extensive Canon camera and lens maintenance facilities.

A staff of Canon technicians and support representatives will be on hand to assist with photographers' Canon camera needs. In addition, Canon will maintain an inventory of loan equipment which will include 35mm EOS-1V cameras and EF lenses, EOS-1D Digital Cameras, Canon Digital Video camcorders, and the popular PowerShot line of compact digital cameras.

In this specially constructed Canon Imaging Center, photographers will enjoy a comfortable place to rest between assignments with wide screen Mitsubishi HD-TV viewing and hearty refreshments. In addition, there will be a number of Power Macintosh G4 computer workstations provided by Apple Computer that may be used for digital still picture editing and Digital Video editing as well.

Adobe Photoshop 6.0 will be installed on these computers for the photographers' use. Canon will feature its latest Bubble-Jet tabletop printers that photographers may use on a complimentary basis. Canon's BJ-W9000 wide format printer, which can make spectacular 44-inch wide prints, will also be available for the photographers' use.

Onyx Software, a Salt Lake City based company, will provide technical support for photographers using this printer. The Canon CLC 1150 Color Laser Copier will also be available for print output work.

On Feb. 7, Canon will host a special opening reception from 4pm to 8pm for the participating credentialed photographers with refreshments and live musical entertainment. As an additional measure of hospitality for credentialed photographers, Canon will provide a gift packet on a limited first-come, first -served basis, consisting of a versatile winter parka jacket, a special set of four Canon collectors' pins, a camera accessory bag, and a 128mb Compact Flash memory card provided by Simple Tech.

The set of collector pins was designed to reflect a high tech feeling for winter athletics. Only 900 sets of these pin sets will be produced, and are sure to be a hit with souvenir collectors. The red parka features a removable fleece lining that can be worn as a separate piece. Both the shell and the fleece are embroidered with the Canon EOS 1D product logo.
