Sports Shooter News & Notes

- For those of you who are whining that the Sports Shooter Workshop & Luau is for students only, you can catch Mr. Sports Shooter himself at the annual Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar Nov. 30 - Dec. 2.

Robert Hanashiro, the founder and editor of Sports Shooter will be conducting breakout sessions on Sports Photography. Other speakers and workshop leaders include:

Reed Hoffmann
Stan Honda
Kenny Irby
Joey Ivansco
John Kaplan
Ken Light
Kathy Plonka
Bill Snead
Maggie Steeber
Anthony Suau
Joe Weiss

Other features of The Seminar include: portfolio reviews, vendor displays and panel discussions.

- And speaking of the Sports Shooter Workshop & Luau, there have been a couple of changes made in the speaker line up. Rod Mar from the Seattle Times will join Sports Illustrated's V.J. Lovero as one of the featured speakers. Also, Robert Hanashiro will be conducting a breakout session

entitled "Making Chicken Salad Out of Chicken S**t" in place of the "Covering Prep Sports" class which had to be cancelled. The Sports Shooter Workshop & Luau will be held on Nov. 10 in Southern California and is being host by Nikon.

 

- Joe Gosen, former photographer and graphic artist at the Reno Gazette-Journal, as well as a long-time Sports Shooter supporter, accepted a job teaching visual journalism at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, Calif. Gosen will be leading the "Photoshop Magic" breakout session at the Workshop & Luau.

 

- Michael Meister has been named the new Photo Editor at The Arizona Republic.
