It was great to see so many of you last week at the White House News Photographer Association dinner here in DC ... so who's more popular in DC? George Bush/Dick Cheney OR Michael Jordan/Charles Barkley? Oh those Washington Wizards ...

Here's the latest scoop on what's new in the industry ---

NIKON has formally announced pricing of the new D1X and D1H digital cameras as of 04/25/01. We are accepting orders NOW! For pricing and quotes, please contact me via Email or Phone. Nikon will begin delivery in May of the D1X and the D1H should follow within weeks after that. If you haven't seen the spec on these two cameras, go to www.nikonusa.com. Along with the D1X/H news comes the announcement of Nikon Capture Software Version 2.0 ($199.99). There are a few programs in effect relating to Capture 2.0, call me or Email for all the details.

Also announced were two new consumer based cameras, the Coolpix 995 and Coolpix 775. The Coolpix 995 is similar in design to the 990/950 cameras with the swivel design and has a pop up flash, a 4X Optical Zoom plus many creative controls. The new Coolpix 775 is a 2.14 megapixel camera, weighing in at only 6.5oz. It's the lightest pocket sized point-and-shoot digital camera on the market today, with an array of features. Both the 995 and 775 can also be seen on Nikon's website. The Coolpix 995 has a suggested retail price of $899.95 and the Coolpix 775's MSRP is $449.95.
