Penn Camera News & Notes
By Jeff Synder

It's been a hectic few months here in the DC area It was great to see so many of you here in town for the Presidential Inaugural last month and the NBA All Star game a few weeks ago too! ! WOW and while at the Super Bowl I had the opportunity to meet so many of you that I correspond with everyday. That was great!

Here's some information on new and exciting products and promotions that have been announced since last month.

The big news (for all of you that have been asleep for a few weeks) is that Nikon has announced two new professional digital cameras in the D1 lineup. The Nikon D1X, which will be the first to hit the market (in about 90 days)is a 5.47 megapixel camera, which will shoot 3fps up to 9 consecutive shots. The D1H is a 2.74 megapixel camera that will shoot 5fps up to 40 consecutive shots per burst! Release dates and firm pricing has yet to be announced, however we are accepting orders for both now. For all the specs, go to Get on the list early! Email or call me!

Also, new product announcements from Nikon AFS 300 f2.8 ED-IF II, a smaller lighter weight lens than it's predecessor at a lower price too! For all of you that have had a 300 f2.8 on order with us and have yet to receive your lenses, you will automatically receive the new 300 when it becomes available. The SB-50DX AF TTL Speedlight is the latest addition to Nikon's flash line-up, a small unit, great for remotes and runs on two 123 Lithium batteries.

Nikon's Coolpix 990 has been reduced in price! I have a "special" Sports Shooter reader price, call or email me for details!!! And finally...Nikon has reduced the price of the current D1 camera too!!!

NOW IN STOCK are the Lightware Digital Backpacks and Lightware's long lens cases.

On the professional end, Canon has announced re-designed 1.4X and 2X EF Teleconverters. We are ALL anxiously awaiting word on a Canon high-end pro digital camera. While there were no announcements made at the PMA show a few weeks ago we hope to hear some promising news very soon. I'll keep you all posted.
