The Garrett Miho Foundation has set two dates for their first annual fundraiser, according to Darrell Miho. The first, the annual bowling fundraiser, will be held on May 6th at Beverly Bowl in Montebello, CA beginning at 11:30am with lunch and bowling from 1-4pm. Registration fee is $10. The second fundraiser will be a dinner, dance at silent auction on May 13th at the Paradise Restaurant in Torrance, CA. Happy hour will start at 6pm. Dinner will be served at 7pm followed by dancing. Tickets are $60/person for the dinner and dance and $20/person for the dance only. If you would like more information or would like to volunteer to help please contact Darrell Miho at dmiho@earthlink.net. The Garrett Miho Foundation was established in memory of Darrell's brother Garrett to aid children and teens being raised in single parent households.

Sports Illustrated's V.J. Lovero will be Photo Night's featured speaker on Thursday February 24th at 7pm at the Grove Theater Center Gem Theater in Garden Grove, CA (714)771-3898. V.J., despite being diagnosed with cancer in January, is doing well and working on new projects. If you are interested in finding out more details about the presentation or about Photo Night please visit www.photonight.com.

AP St. Louis photographer James Finley came back to work last month after having a heart attack at the end of November. Finley had a triple bypass operation the next day. He is doing well now. I've heard he has developed a fondness for turkey burgers and vegetarian cuisine.

I have my own medical news to add: My mother Constance Markey is recovering nicely after having a brain tumor removed three weeks ago. The tumor was a benign meningioma, a tumor of the membrane surrounding the lobes of the brain. Her doctors are expecting a full recovery and no complications.

On the move......Mike Rondou has joined the staff of the St. Petersburg Times after spending time as a golf caddie in south Florida. Paul Kitagaki has left the Portland Oregonian for the Seattle Post Intelligencer. The Southeast Missourian in Cape Girardeau has hired Chris Stanfield from Jackson, Tennessee as photo editor. R.C. Adams has been named photo editor of the Columbia (MO) Tribune, replacing Mike Stewart who went to Albuquerque. Reed Hoffman of the Rochester (NY) Newspapers has moved to Kansas City where he will freelance and do consulting work. He follows his wife Sharon who became assistant metro editor at the Kansas City Star. Region 7 Photographer of the Year Kelly Presnell has resigned from the Salina, Kansas Journal to take some time off and go home to Wichita. Kansas City AP photographer Cliff Schiappa has been elected president of his neighborhood association (Look out John McCain!). Two days after he was elected a crime wave hit the area.

Allsport contract photographer Jonathan Daniel will be staying in Chicago. Jonathan's wife Jinger in about to graduate from medical school and was heavily recruited by Yale, Columbia, Harvard and others for her residency. She has elected to stay at the University of Chicago and Jonathan will be able to stay and complain about the lousy Cubs and White Sox for years to come.

And, from Florida, Teri Hayt of Disney's photo department is heading to the Arizona Daily Star to become director of photography. Teri was also formerly a picture editor at the Orlando Sentinel and a staffer at Sports Illustrated. Her husband Jon Hayt will also be joining the staff in Tucson, but not as a shooter.
