Additional space has been added to Sports Shooter Academy X, February 28 - March 3, 2013 in Southern California. The Sports Shooter Academy is for both college students and working photographers that want to improve their sports photography, learn new techniques, get a boost of inspiration and receive an immediate evaluation of their work by some of the best professionals working today.
(The Academy is open to non-members of the Sports Shooter website.)
The hands-on shooting workshop gives participants the opportunity to cover various college sports under the guidance of a faculty of award-winning photographers. Sports on the workshop schedule includes: college baseball, men's and women's basketball, track & field, tennis, water polo, swimming & diving and men's volleyball. Other sports include surfing and sessions at a local boxing gym. Classroom instruction will cover using remote cameras, location portraits and editing for impact.
The Sports Shooter Academy X faculty include:
• Matt Brown (workshop co-founder and Southern California freelance photographer)
• Rod Mar (Seattle Seahawks)
• Wallly Skalij (Los Angeles Times)
• Robert Deutsch (USA TODAY)
• Shawn Cullen (Sports Illustrated)

• Michael Corrado (Nikon)
• Ronal Taniwaki (Nikon)
• Sara Wood (Nikon)
• Ian Ray (PocketWizard)

SSA participants select the sports events they want to cover each day and workshop instructors will be there to answer questions, offer advice and provide inspiration. Daily editing sessions feature one-on-one critiques with instructors --- which past SSA participants have said is the highlight of their experience.
Nikon Professional Services is the Sports Shooter Academy's primary sponsor. NPS will have their latest professional cameras, lenses and speedlights at the Sports Shooter Academy available for participants to use at events.

"As a faculty member for many of these workshops, it's so gratifying to see the effort and energy put forth by the students , then see the improvement each day in the resulting images," said Rod Mar.
Participants is Sports Shooter Academy will also be able to attend a pre-workshop event for free! The Sports Shooter Academy Luau will be held on February 27 and is a day-long educational event featuring demonstrations and presentations by area photographers and SSA instructors.
