All The Samy’s News Fit To Print
By

Samy's Camera was very excited to be a major sponsor of last month's Sports Shooter Academy VIII.

Fifty students and pros from all around the world (Singapore! Germany! England! Kentucky, wait, what?) gathered in Orange County, CA for what our good friend and Sports Shooter founder Robert Hanashiro unabashedly calls “THE coolest sports photography event of the year". We were pleased to be on hand with support for the participants with discounted products and giveaway prizes. If you're on the fence about attending a future Sports Shooter Academy, you really should take advantage of the opportunity to work next to and learn from some of the best in the business.

Much of the talk at the Academy during those rare moments when there wasn't something to shoot or edit centered around, what else, gear. something to shoot or edit centered around, what else, gear.

Nikon has just announced its small, mirrorless wonders, the new V1 and J1. If you haven't heard about these beauties, they also feature interchangeable lenses, and can shoot 1080i60 or 1080p30 video. Delivery of these new gems will commence Oct. 20, but we are accepting pre-orders.

We're also accepting pre-orders on Nikon's upgrade of their popular P7000. The new P7100 features a swivel screen and easier-to-use buttons and interface.

Canon's new version of their pro long lenses the EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS II USM and EF 400mm f/2.8 L IS II USM are on their way and we are taking pre-orders now.

From the long to the short of it, we also carry Canon's new jaw-dropping 815mm f/4.0 zoom lens. Like everything that is cool these days, this is a "hybrid" of sorts --in one lens you get a fisheye and extreme wide-angle. These can be hard-to-find but give us a call and we'll track one down.

We at Samy's Camera are proud of our relationship with Sports Shooter and its members. Give us a call for pricing info for Sports Shooter readers.
