Calling All Sports Shooters
Think Tank Photo has generously agreed to sponsor the prizes for the Sports Shooter Portfolio Competition. Winners in the professional and student categories will be awarded an Airport International roller.

Sports Shooter founder Robert Hanashiro changed the contest format this year from several individual categories to a portfolio competition.

"A portfolio will be a real measure of a photographer's versatility, creativity and consistency," said Hanashiro. "It will be interesting and fun to see these portfolios."

Hanashiro also announced that deadline for entry has been extended by a week. The new deadline is 11:59pm Sunday February 27, 2011.

Lighting Luau Re-Opens Registration
Want to learn more about the art of location light? Do you want to work with some of Southern California's top photographers? The Sports Shooter Academy Light Luau has reopened registration for the April 22-23 workshop.

The lighting Luau features two full days of lectures and hands-on shooting sessions with athletes in various locations in Southern California. (Can you say Roller Derby?)

On Friday night, workshop faculty members Tim Mantoani and Robert Beck will make presentations that will be open to the public.

For more information on the Lighting Luau, check these links:

Also on the workshop faculty are: Dave Honl, Matt Brown and Hanashiro.

The Lighting Luau is sponsored by Samy's Camera. Think Tank Photo, Dynalight and Nikon USA are supporting the workshop.
