Sports Shooter Contest
By Robert Hanashiro

Our second annual Sports Shooter Contest will begin accepting entries beginning Nov. 15, 1999.

Categories this year will be:

- Best Action (shot on film or digital)
- Best Sports Image Not Involving Pro or College (shot or film)
- Best Sports Image Not Involving Pro or College (shot or digital)
- Best Jube/Dejection (shot on film or digital)

We have received confirmation for some wonderful prizes contributed by Roberts Distributors; Canon, USA; Eastman Kodak and Nikon Professional Services. Prize details will be released next month.

There will be a few changes in this year's contest. We will be accepting entries via email to an address that will be announced in Sports Shooter v.14 in November. The deadline will be January 31, 2000.

Entries must be 72 dpi with dimensions not to exceed 6 inches. Images should also be compressed at a PhotoShop setting of 4. You can enter up to two images per category with a total limit of 4.

All entries must have been TAKEN between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 1999.

Entries must have complete captions, including when it was taken, in the "file info". Your name, address and the publication the image was shot for should also be included somewhere in the "file info."

Failure to include complete entry info will result in disqualification.

This contest is for fun and a little recognition, so please accept the rules and decision of the judges in the spirit of this contest.

All winners will be posted on the Sports Shooter Archive web site.

NOTE: do not mail entries to my Mindspring email address. The contest will have a specific email address. You don't want to make me mad by clogging this email address with your contest entries. Remember, I am one of the judges and you wouldn't want me mad at you!

Thanks to Bruce Kwitny at Roberts, Jason Ness and Wayne Shipman from Kodak; Chuck Westfall from Canon, USA and Ron Taniwaki from Nikon for helping to make the 2nd Annual Sports Shooter Contest possible.
