My Top 5 Cool Things for 2008

Amy made her favorite photo of the Olymopic Games while trying to hold down a shooting spot amid jostling photographers for the finals of the men's parallel bars.
Here's my top 5, in no particular order...

1. That my nephew Ben just got accepted to Case Western Reserve University which means he might be here in town for college! Neat!

2. That while I was trying to hold down a shooting spot amid jostling photographers for the finals of the men's parallel bars at the Olympics in Beijing, I made the effort to slip out and shoot what was my favorite photo of mine of the Games.

3. That Barack Obama chose my 50th birthday to become president! His victory made the transition to this big scary number pretty darn easy!

4. That my 2-time Oscars red carpet buddy Ryan Seacrest, who I stand next to for the arrivals, remembered my name this year and was nice enough to give me this silly dinner plate with his photo in the middle of it as a gift! He was using them as silly props to give to celebs he interviewed, and said that at home, he slips the things under the dinner salads of friends he has over to get a surprise laugh. The plate sits on the lower shelf of my glass top coffee table in my living room and has given my guests and me good, hearty chuckles as well. Thanks Ryan!

5. That after years of being a "reluctant carnivore", I came home from Beijing a full-fledged vegetarian, and it feels great!!! I recommend to anyone who would like to become a vegetarian, take a 3 1/2 week trip to China...it'll make the transition a breeze--nothing like a little "Toad in Hot Pot" or seeing a duck's foot bobbing in a bubbling stew to send you right over the fence.

Happy Holidays everyone, and all good things in 2009! Cheers!
