Allsport, MLB Photos partnership explained
By Rich Pilling, Major League Baseball

As many of you have already heard through the grapevine, Allsport has recently signed a letter of intent with Major League Baseball Photos. And, since most of you have heard this information through secondary sources, Paul Cunningham and I would like to give you the complete, truthful information on this new partnership.

Simply put, Allsport has signed a letter of intent with Major League Baseball Photos to sell Major League Baseball Photos' images Internationally. They can not sell any of our images domestically. We will select images from our inventory and send them to Allsport where they will be scanned and captioned. Then all the original images will be returned to Major League Baseball Photos. This partnership ONLY grants Allsport the right to sell these images to their International clients through Allsport's website.

Our primary reason for initiating this relationship is to offer the photography of Major League Baseball Photos to a greater audience than ever before. Allsport is recognized as the largest International sports photo agency. The technology that they use is on the "cutting edge". The contract, when signed will initially run for a three year period. After that time, Allsport and Major League Baseball Photos will determine whether or not to extend this partnership.

Contrary to the rumors that have been circulating, Allsport has not taken over as the Official Photo Agency nor as the Official Photographers for Major League Baseball. Please call either Paul Cunningham (212-931-7458) or Rich Pilling (212-931-7464) if you would like additional information.

(Rich Pilling is the manager of Major League Baseball Photos. MLB Photo's first attempt to create a website is active and up and running. The url is: http://www.mlbphotos.com/)
