Gear Heads Unite!
By Bruce Kwitny, Roberts Distributors

Equipment Updates:
I have received many questions regarding the new Pocket Wizards availability. According to Jack Bingham of LPA Design, the makers of the Pocket Wizard, delivery should start the week of May 24th approximately.

We have ordered a large quantity of these units and should be able to fill all requests quickly. Some people have asked if we will be taking trade-ins on the current model...the answer is YES we will. Another common question is the compatibility with the current model. The first 16 channels on the new units will work perfectly in conjunction with the current model. For anyone interested in the current model, we are offering the last couple of dozen units for $199.00 each...this includes a custom ID channel. This represents savings of $70.00 per unit!

Lightware...Another common question I have been getting lately is regarding the Lightware rolling case, called the Lightwalker. The current model has officially been discontinued because it is now too large for most airlines. They ARE working on a new model, which should be available in the not too distant future. It will also have wheels and a retractable handle, and most importantly will fit within the new fascist airline guidelines. One other Lightware note: they will have a much anticipated web site launching within the next few weeks. The URL will be www.lightwareinc.com. Please be aware that this link is NOT active yet. If all goes well it should be up and running by late May. Hasselblad...The current promo for the free back or prism with lens purchase will be expiring on June 30th. Please see last issue of Sports Shooter for details.

Nikon...Scanner rebates will expire on July 31st for the LS2000 and LS30. Please see the last issue of Sports Shooter for details.

Lowe-Pro...New long lens case is now available. Lowe-Pro has just brought out a very nice new long lens case that will work with 300/2.8, 400/2.8. 500/4.0 and 600/4.0 lenses. Some unique features include a moveable partition for adjusting to the height of your lens. It also has a Removable Lens Stabilizer...basically this is a donut that goes around the small part of the lens barrel to keep it from moving inside of the case. The Drop-Down Zipper provides very easy access. Like many professional Lowe-Pro case this one also features a built-in All Weather Rain Cover for extra protection from the elements. Introductory price is only $119.95 for Sports Shooter readers.
