What about bio majors? chem? philosophy? Other strange obscure fields like History of Science?

Gerald Ling will have a PhD in....what is the term I am looking for....ummmm , oh yea "Nerdology" in about 3-4 yeard from UConn.

Oh wait, the technical term is Polymer Science (and something else, I forget). His head is so big and round, I know it is because of all the information he is storing in there.

AAS in sales/marketing management, AS network engineering technology, AS photography.

BA in Mass Communications

Cisco Networking Academy

And, for the vagabond in me, Bradford-Union Vo Tech Truck Driving School. I thought you would see the country, but really you see black top and truck stops.

Strange thing about my degree is that I never took a photography class the whole time I was there; could have and should have, but never did; it was not required. What a waste. It was not until I needed photographs for some of my sports designs that I even considered photography. Funny how things turn out...

Did manage a BS in Applied Math and MS in Computer Science. Used to shoot sports for the school paper with a Nikon FM with MD-11 motor drive & 50-300mm f4.5 zoom Nikkor. Loved that glass, & still put it on the D1H every once in a while for old times sake and practice manual focusing!

->> My senior thesis in History was "Lockean Political Philosophy as Seen in Tom Paine's Common Sense."

Here in Washington DC I find being trained as a Historian helps me as a Journalist. The critical thinking skills (what little I have) allows me to cut through the BS of politicians and see events in context of the march of time.

That said, History was my minor in which I took more classes than my major (go figure). I earned an Honors Degree in Photo-Journalism from the SI Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University.

My favorite class was Scuba Diving. I didn't want to sweat in PE. HA!

Took photography classes as part of the art major and discovered I loved it! 1 year after graduation I went through the Summer Intensive program with the Rocky Mountain School of Photography.

Although, like many here, if you compare the hours I spent on my studies with the hours I spent working for the college newspaper, you would say my major was The Cavalier Daily! I still believe that most of the knowledge that I used today comes from working at the newspaper, and not from the classes I sat through.

On a career day in my senior year, a lady said she had done the same statistic first thing every day for about the last 30 years. That was more of a wake up call about the career then all the different internships I completed.

Thank goodness my ex bought me a manual camera and that I was curious enough to want to learn how to use it!
