Who else has "Friends" related assignment today?
Jack Howard, Photographer

->> Just wondering what other SS members have a "Farewell to Friends" related assignment today-tonight?

I've got a "Superfan farewell party" from 7:30-9 tonight. Should be interesting. Definitely Pulitzer-caliber stuff going on here!

On the positive side, it is only 7 blocks from my house, so that's not a bad drive...

Oh well.

We have a similar assignment here at the Spartan Daily (SJSU). However, I dodged that bullet so that I can go see Carolyn Cole speak tonight in San Francisco. Have fun, and say good by to Rachel for me.

I never liked that show. Glad to see it go

If people are bothering to have parties over it, it probably ought to be covered. It would go on a long list of stuff I've covered that doesn't interest me, but that's one of the things I like best about newspaper work, it exposes you to tons of things you'd never see otherwise. Sure am glad it isn't me, though.

->> Caleb~

When Seinfeld went off the air, it was said that the streets of NYC were eerily quiet that night... so many people had gone home or to parties to see the finale. Friends has been a huge success like Seinfeld was. TV has been a large part of American culture ever since its inception, just like sports, cinema, politics, and religion. Why would we not cover a political rally, or a sport event because we personally disagree with what it is, what its about, or the people who are involved with it.

they're right around the corner!! AAHHHHH!!!!

we've got a buttload of high schools here, thank god we don't cover all of their graduation ceremonies like we did at my old newspaper. i realize graduations present the opportunity for some great images, but after the sixth or seventh one you're just ready to run up on stage and cold-cock the guest speaker so they can move on to the diploma passing. GRRRR!!

It involved shooting around the camera crew and the 'REVEAL' of one of those decorating shows, 'Make Room for Baby'

With all their production delays, I almost missed the Friends assignment...

Oh well, all in a day's work.

Remember, it beats sitting behind a desk working in the payroll department folks!

The median age in our community is around 122, so no one really gives a crap about Friends. No big to-do's around here...

Day After Thanksgiving is much worse.....it happpens every freakin' year.

Every year one of my clients seems to send me to Boston or New York to shoot photos which I am usually sure I shot the previous year of a mad frenzy in Macy's or Filenes , in FAO Schwartz (in either NY or Boston), packed sidewalks ladies loaded with bags, guy sleeping as wife shops.

Friends, it is over, done with, won't be asked to shoot it next year.

->> Grover,

The day after Thanksgiving is worse, because it is not the busiest shopping day of the year anymore, but all the news outlets love to say that it is.

The Xmas season starts in October now, so the post Thanksgiving sales spike is lessened. The busiest day is usually just before Xmas depending on where the last weekend falls.
