->> To add to that a rep told me the D200 will be 8MP. No word yet on the D2X.
Nikon's also working on a fix for the D2H. They're working on a firmware update but if that doesn't work they're talking about a chip replacement. Apparently Nikon Japan is confused by Nikon USA's reports of problems. "You're selling everyone we send you. How can there be a problem?" |

->> My neighbor's mother-in-laws cousin's gardener's hairdresser lives next door to a guy who reportedly knows someone who works at Nikon, and he says...
"Reps" don't know anything, no Way Nikon or anyone else divulges that info. It's all conjecture. The announcement, if it happens, when it happens, you won't know about it until then, or perhaps a day sooner from someone spilling the beans a la Canadian Time with it's early post of the flat panel iMac.
It's great to speculate about these things, but I think this forum should be above that |

->> I heard a crazy one they other day. According to my source.
"In the third quarter (August/Sept) Nikon plans to be playing catch up with Canon, while at the same time Canon shooters will finally be getting their hands on the Mk Duce that was announced in January."
Lol... |

->> Here's not a rumor: Nikon owners are scratching their heads trying to figure out what the heck Nikon is doing while Canon cleans their clock.
What's the point of waiting till any particular date for a "Big" announcement. Nikon needs to release a stead stream of information to we who keep them in business. Leaving us in the dark is worthless information. |

->> Current Buzz:
Nikon will manage to get their online repair status info back on line this week, approximately 1 week after the scheduled date.
Speculation is that system chageover was managed by marketing department, so date was always "soft" |

I heard when I was in Thailand that Mr. Masai is very agressive in business strategy. This should be a great news.
..........and the saga continue. |

->> My cousing's boyfriend's daughter's 4th grade teacher's wife's brother-in-law was searching the internet, and found out that Nikon would be buying up thousands of Canon EOS 1D Mk II bodies, changing the shape of the prisim, and then selling them as Nikon products.
It's the only way they can keep up
Rumour has it this has been in the works for sometime, this is why Nikon started to release white lenses a few years ago. It was a subtle change :0) |

Were these posts, rude, racist or blatantly disrespectful? I didn't this so....anyone else seem to think so? |

| ->> Until I decide the new technology will, (A) be affordable (B) will greatly improve my photos, I'll continue to plug along trying to make photos that are better than the last photos I made. I once made basketball action with a Leica M-2 and 90mm lens. No one told me I couldn't follow-focus with a rangefinder so I did it, most of the time successfully. Don't wait for the new Canon or new Nikon to be the secret to your success, go out there and make great photos with what you have. You'll be surprised what you can do without the latest equipment. I had a POY winner once taken with an ancient Nikon FM and an even older 35mm lens. |

| ->> Also, please dont turn this into Nikon vs. Canon. Its childish and in my opinion has no place on this site. If you are good at what you (and most of us are) do, you could use a pen and pad and still get a great image. Dont get too caught up in who's better or you might just forget how to get the image. Remember "A brush is only as good as the hand that holds it." |

->> Ken...your post may not be " rude, racist or blatantly disrespectful", but it's still inappropriate. Rumors about camera's are better served by posting them on http://www.nikonrumors.com. The fact of the matter is that we will all get the information re: any new product release at the same time via a press release from Nikon.
Do you really think that someone here has some secret information that they were just sitting in waiting for you to ask about before they post it here?
If Nikon vs Canon has no place on this board...then rumors have no place either. |

->> Delane,
Hear!Hear! (British abbreviation for "hear, all ye good people, hear what this brilliant and eloquent speaker has to say!")
We should be discussing business and perhaps technique here, not wasting time on rumors and gossip. That's what sites full of amateurs, like dpreview.com are for. Let's keep this site as useful and professional as possible, so that the better among us will also feel the need to participate, and not to just start ignoring the forums.
BTW, Delane - nice touch with Nikonrumors.com, you got me! ;-) |

->> This site is a valuable resource for many reasons -- one of them being that we can hear of events related to photography and photojournalism sooner than we would have otherwise.
Is that really so hard for some people to figure out? Please don't post nitpicking crap like this anymore, guys, it detracts from a phenomenal website. If someone wants information, let 'em ask. 'Nuff said. |

| ->> Thank you Colin, at least someone understands what I've been trying to say. And to all of you who think my thread was inappropriate, too bad. Since when is it a crime to want to find out if anyone has some useful first hand information about a possible upcoming product. And to you, Delane, yes I do think that someone might have some information regarding an upcoming product release. I don't think that wanting to spend my money wisely is such a crime. And is it me, or have I read on this site on several occasions, about a possible Canon camera that can shoot 8 fps and 8 megapixels? Oh I'm sorry, that's called the Mark II. And I know for a fact that I read about that camera on this site before it was announced by Canon. |

->> Ken,
I can understand your desire to post your question here; several members here are known Nikon beta testers, and are "in the loop" as far as current development goes.
However, has it not occurred to you (and others) that this site, one that demands the utmost in personal accountability (including joining by name, not alias), would be the ABSOLUTE LAST place that one of those testers would use to leak any info? Considering also that Nikon is a direct sponsor of this site, I seriously doubt that anyone with anything pertinent to say would do so in this forum.
All apologies to "Photodude". |

I do agree though, even though I want the most up to date news and info on upcoming toys, uhhh, technology, this isn't the place to speculate on it. |
