->> My WONDERFUL girlfriend, after over a year of teasing hints, (I never really thought she would get it for me), got me a new D100. I know it's not as good as a d1h, d1x or d2h, but it's the coolest gift I've ever gotten, and I think, a great first digital SLR. At least for now it seems to be good enough for what I'm doing. I've been shooting film forever. So far so good, but I will have a lot of questions soon I'm sure.

| ->> Hey Paul, using that 400mm f/2.8 is great for hockey from the higher levels. Canon was kind enough to lend me theirs for a bit and I'm loving it. Just have to get used to the larger lens, but I'm having fun doing it. Good Luck. |

I use the 400f2.8 all the time for hockey and basketball, both from floor/ice level, and higher up in the stands looking down. Also great for Arena Football
I love the lens for indoor sports. |

She was pretty mad at me, she had gone down on her lunch break trying to surprise me, but I ruined it for her. So I got the backdrop I was wanting a couple days early. Yea! |

I have muslins for high key pictures, medium key pictures(is there such a thing?); and now a really large one for low key pictures. A wopping 14' by 22'! Takes care of all the times I had to remove the poles with PS!! |

->> Nothing, absolutely nothing!!!!!!!!!!!! But I can invite all of you to cover my first annual foosball tournament and I have a nice supply of belgian beers. Unfortunately, there is no room on the wooden sidelines for the photographers and/or the point and shoot sideliners.
The explanation for the absence of photographic equipment under the christmas tree was that everything is so specialized and you know so much more about it and I don't want to buy the wrong thing. B&H Photo Video print outs of wanted gear didn't seem to help. |

I feel for ya man! I can definately relate. I gave up long ago on dropping hints to my family, (or even printing spec sheets). I am convinced that my entire family would screw it all up, and not even give a rats @ss. So I just make the most of it, and buy my own gear, (Yeah!!!! everyday is my birthday!! J/K). Happy holidays, and Happy New Year to all. |

Congratulations on your baby. My daughter was born 12-01 5 years ago.
Dirk,
I used the wish list on B&H and then e-mailed it to my wife. It let her pick what she wanted to get and she was sure it was the right thing. |

Congrats!!! You wouldn't happen to have a photo...?
As for me I got a PDA that has a CF slot and WiFi. I'm planning on using it as a backup for transmitting in case my laptop goes down. It also plays a mean game of Solitaire. Happy Holidays!
