Error 36

->> I save my photos on portable HD's. Toback them up, I recently bought 2 5tb Seagate drives. In copying folders, most copied fine but on a few of the folders, I got a message that the finder couldn't read a file followed by error -36. I googled this and tried going into the terminal and ran a simple dot_clean utility to remove the hidden "dot-underscore" files This hasn't worked. Any idea?

->> Harvey, I don't use the Finder directly for any large copies. The biggest problem is any problem can stop the whole transfer and not give you much information on which file is the problem.

I like this program CopyQueue and use it for most of my copies with the Verification option turned on:

Carbon Copy Cloner is another great program, but isn't as easy as CopyQueue for simply drag-and-drop copies:

->> If you are working on a Mac you may need to download a driver from Seagate. I'd go to the support section of their site and see what they recommend for your particular combination of drive, computer and OS. Worked for me.
