->> The who story is interesting as it makes you think about what more Brett could have done to prevent this theft. I'm also sure that something like this could happen anywhere. I've heard stories where gear was stolen out of secured media rooms.

I'd be interested in hearing ways that photographers have stepped up their game in terms of securing their gear and/or making themselves less of a target.
