->> Looks exciting and expensive

http://cameratimes.org/canon-eos-1d-x-mark-ii-rumored-shoot-14fps/

Maybe it's time to sell my 5DIII bodies.

->> They had me at "Massive improvement on Dynamic Range, more stops than any other DSLR camera in the world." I don't need any more megapixels, or 14 fps, but more dynamic range is always good!!!

->> I wish it would get here soon, we're still shooting Mark IVs and have decided to wait to replace them until this new body comes out.

But with the 2016 Summer Olympics still a year away, I fear we might be in for another nine'ish month wait.

->> John, I agree that the dynamic range is a great improvement if lives up to its rumor but I'm also happy about the faster processors and new autofocus system among other things. Bumping the res to 24 sounds appealing to me as well.

->> To Kevin Cox,
The 1Dx is a huge step up from the IV. By far the biggest improvement between models I've seen in the 1d series. Although I guess the original to the Mark II was huge. I'm scared to know what the price will be on the replacement. New 1Dx's are $4,600 on B and H this morning.

->> I do have two 1Dx, love my Canon gear.
Wouldn't mind more DR, or 24 Megapixel.
But that´s not so important to me that it would make me upgrade.
There is one thing that i really miss though. The possibility to crop and straighten images with the cameras built in RAW processing.

The reason is that i send a lot of images straight from the camera (thru FTP), for instant publishing on the internet. (Using a Swedish service called Shoot it live:
http://shootitlive.com/ ).
Being able to do a fast and simple crop in the camera, before transmitting and publish them.
Would make a huge difference to me.
For Nikon shooters this function has been there for years.
Have spoken with a rep for Canon Sweden for years now.
I do hope that Canon fix this for the "1Dx mkII".
(The software is actually in the camera already, if you use DP, Direct Print, you can do this. Bot not when transmitting thru FTP.)
I do know that I'm not the only one asking for this.
(I actually had some serious thoughts about starting a online petition to get Canon fix this. Thats how big difference it would make to me).
If canon fixes this with the 1Dx replacement. I will without any doubt buy tow new bodies in the next year.

->> Daniel,

Excellent request. I have to transmit direct from the camera a lot as my paper has really early deadlines and would love to have in camera cropping.

->> My guess is that Canon will shoot the moon on price like they did when they first introduced the 1DX. I purchased my first one for $6,799. Let's assume they use the same price point on the 1DX II and I can get a trade on my 1DX at $3,000. That's still close to $4,000 (with tax)to upgrade.

Is "in camera processing and transmitting" really worth the extra cost with all other newly added features being negligible?

The other scary thing is that Canon says they are redesigning the AF system. Remember when they did that from the 1D Mark IIN to the 1D Mark III? What a nightmare that was going from probably the best AF systems to the worst. Boy did I learn many lessons over the course of 3 years.

Personally, I'm considering picking up some good used 1DX bodies or maybe some new ones if the price continues to fall. For me, the 1DX was the answer to my prayers for a camera that consistently gets the job done right.

->> Higher DR is nice but I'm just not doing enough at base ISO for it to be critical. Better high ISO would tempt me much more.

The 1DX is still so good that Canon would really have to offer something major for me to upgrade.

->> I appreciate the additional thoughts on the jump from the Mark IV to the X. We've just been stuck on the back end of the body cycle for a long time now and we can either continue that trend by buying the 1DX now or fix it by waiting.
