H&K Camera Service in California closing
Jane Tyska, Photographer

->> Just a heads up that this Canon repair shop is closing for good next week and not taking in any more repairs. No mention of this on their website, but I spoke with them today.

http://www.hkcameraservice.com/

Anyone know any other repair places that they're happy with? I'm doing some research, but would be good to have a recommendation. I have an old 16-35 that CPS won't repair because they only work on series II lenses now. Obviously they want you to buy a new one. The focus is off, though it appears sharp in the camera viewfinder. I think it may be the sensor...

Thanks!

->> I heard of a place in Pasadena that is apparently good. I have not used them, but a friend had some work done there with no complaints. I believe he needed a new shutter for a 1d mk2 or something, and they got the parts from Europe. International Camera Repair. http://www.intlcamerarepair.com/
Let us know how it works out...

He fixes stuff that others can't.

->> Since we are on the subject. Can anyone recommend good repair houses for Nikon equipment that are independent of Nikon?

->> Based on what C.R.I.S Camera Repair (Chandler, Arizona) told me, that most all Nikon go out to NPS (for parts) if do not have them on hand(parts).

I wonder how 3D printers will change the repair shop(s)in the future.

->> It is true. Nick and Yumi are retiring. They are planning some fun over seas travels and wanted to send their Thanks to the SS community for your business over the years. Plan on allowing extra time for any focus checks, repairs and general servicing using the new CPS location in Costa Mesa. Canon customer service will never be the same!
