What would you say?

But with a daughter still in school ... and I still love my job & my family a lot ... under current company policy I would pass.

Now if it were for LeBron or 'Melo money ...

I don't think this is new problem.

->> It is an interesting conundrum. Social media has changed the journalism landscape. I agree with Liddy that her advertisements on social media do not meet the criteria for a true journalist, but I think we are going to see so much more of this type of activity in the journalism world as the landscape changes.

The fact that her organization allows it is what amazes me. But then it is television. Probably not much different than Brian Williams being required to do an entertainment piece every night on the news for his media company and he gets $15 million a year. His reports on the entertainment industry are nothing more than advertorials in my mind.

With the cost of living continuing to rise and wages remaining static she probably needs that extra money just to make rent, buy food, gas and pay her utilities.

Which begs the question, "What does this have to do with buying a car? Is the car burning an Audi?"

->> Well, I can think of two SS members right now, one uses Canon, the other Nikon and I think both are provided their gear.

In terms of ethics, TV has none. They're not journalists. They're entertainers.

Brian Williams doesn't earn $15 million a year. He is paid that. Big difference. And he doesn't even read the news 15 minutes worth each night, as they go to the video report made earlier by the people working in the field.

->> I love that in the UK they do not refer to the talking heads on tv news channels as journalists but rather as "news readers." In essence that what those folks do. They are not out there gathering the news. They are simply reading the efforts of actual, in the field journalists.
