->> I photographed a niece and her friends at a park before prom and I was surprised how many students were stag or date-less. Certainly was different from 20 years ago

->> I've seen a fairly substantial decline. Kids are fine with iPhone pics for their social media pages. The students are still attracted to photo booths however, and offering them helps to replace some of the lost revenue.

->> That drop isn't limited to just my 'other' life I work teaching Journalism at a high school, where I'm also responsible for our yearbook and the contract with our photography vendor who handles all student picture sales (mug shots, homecoming, prom, graduation, etc). Sales have dropped dramatically in the time period you mention as kids and parents just don't get things printed anymore. I know the photographer is exploring ways to make profit from digital files, but it's difficult to compete with parents who have a decent photo shoot with the kids prior to events, and with kids who are satisfied with cellphone selfies as their memories...or who are satisfied posting screen-shots of watermarked previews of the photo company's work...
