Ilford Paper Discontinued, Replacement??
Jim Pierce, Photographer
Waltham | MA | USA | Posted: 7:00 PM on 04.25.14
->> I just got word that Ilford has/will be stopped/stopping manufacturing paper. Therefore, I am looking for a replacement.

I have used the Ilford smooth Pearl version for many years.

What would you recommend for a replacement that is equal or better?

I've been using their papers for years and have yet to be disappointed in the finished product. They have a wide selection of sizes and finishes, and profiles for the most popular papers, if not all of them.

->> Jim, Eric,

Thanks for the Redriver info. I will be buying a few different products soon.

Andrew,

I received this information via E-mail from the company I buy most of my paper and ink from, Atlantic Exchange www.atlex.com. I sure hope it is not true but from what I received it looks like it is.

I have also read this many times but now that I read it yet again it looks like it is specific to the "Prestige Gallery" inkjet photo paper line, ONLY. Which is what I use.

->> Just went to the Atlantic exchange site and found the following:
---------------------
*Ilford brand inventory is now being phased out due to its bankruptcy issues. Once inventory is depleted, we will no long be able to sell Ilford product. The drop-in replacement for Ilford Gold Fiber Silk is our Simply Elegant Gold Fiber Paper which the exact same ratings and 310gsm weight. Below are additional viable replacements.
----------------
The e-mail I received and this note are not clear if this company is not selling it, or if Ilford will not be making it any longer.
