->> Here's a very close to 2 second flat pit stop from the driver's perspective. Red Bull did several pit stop very close two seconds last year.

The pit stops this year for all the teams have been closer to 3 seconds. Not sure what the reason for the "slow down" is.
In the video below you can see the guys working tires actually have the pneumatic wrench impact wrench on the wheel nut practically as the car stops.

Here's a couple super fast stops from different angles.

The Shanghi race is tonight beginning at 11:30 p.m. On NBC Sports tonight.

Last year we traveled to Austin for the F1 race and it was truly a sporting event not to be missed.

But yeah, it's impressive what you can do when you add impact wrenches and an extra 18 guys working on the car!

->> Austin is ok. But if you want to experience a really awesome race, go to Montreal. That track is stunning. Much more scenic than Austin. And the photo locations for fans wanting to get nice pictures are better...

Here is a nice slowmo video Red Bull did during their factory pitstop practice. Mercedes have 4 lasers that point down on the ground to pinpoint where the car should stop. Millimeters too far forward or too far back make milliseconds of difference...and that means a lot.

->> Jamey,

We went to Austin last year because we wanted to experience the scream of the aspirated V8s. How much, if any, do the Turbo V6s take away from the F1 experience?

I know it's been an argument in the F1 circles, but the drivers seem to like the quieter cars.

->> ->> You don't want my answer to that Richard. My opinion is my own. I've written about it at length in the blogs I've done from the races I've covered this year. Suffice to say, I'm glad you heard them while they were V8s. Not sure the drivers like it though. Vettel sure doesn't. Not sure Hamilton loves the new sound, but he can't complain because he's winning.

WAY off topic, but there's a local radio station that has a new commercial for the fall Bristol NASCAR race. The intro sound at the start of the commercial is F1 cars. Yes I'm raising you know what (and I really like F1, it just sounds crazy on a NASCAR commercial!!)
