SanDisk Extreme CompactFlash 4 GB

->> Seem to be getting a lot of corrupt images on these cards. I bought 2 dozen and about 1/3 constantly give me a puked image every 500-1000 shots. Anyone else having problems with Sandisk? My Lexar cards have been rock solid, they just don't sell smaller sizes anymore.

->> I'm the exact opposite, SanDisk cards have been just about flawless in our Canons, Lexar used to give me a ton of trouble.

The Extreme line has a solid warranty. One of my wife's 32 GB cards started rattling a while back and had corrupt images. She sent them an email and they arranged an RMA pretty quickly. I think it took a week or two to get a replacement in the mail.

They have a dedicated number for support on the Extreme line of cards: 1-866-270-5532

->> Luke, are you erasing or formatting before reusing the card?

->> I too have had "some" issues with Sandisk cards. I contacted them and they replaced them with no problem. Used them for years too. I just bought some new Lexar's replacing older less memory cards. I've also downloaded images recovery programs for each brand plus I bought Disk Rescue 3 for backup. Honestly the program for each brand seems to go deeper into the images.

One thing I've found useful is using a disk utility and "erasing" it like a hard drive every now and then. Run a recovery BEFORE you do the disk utility in case there's anything that can be recovered if needed.

Good luck!

->> Card readers can go bad. You might consider switching out that part of the equation and see what happens.

I don't know how old your cards are, there were reports of counterfeit San Disk cards a while back although most of the cards were being sold by lesser-known vendors.

->> I'm shooting with two cards and have seen the corrupt images right on the camera yet the backup card is fine. This past weekend I had at least two cards corrupting images, one I was able to catch on the camera and set aside.

->> Buy your cards at B&H or Adorama. Stop looking for the best deal. Don't be a penny pincher on this. And based on my research, most counterfeits come from Amazon and Ebay. Prices that look too good to be true are too good to be true.

->> No problems with my Sandisk 4gb CF cards. I've been shooting on them for about 4+ years. I've only had 1 Sandisk card be difficult out of about 30 in the past 10 years. FWIW I am shooting on canon bodies.

->> Great info on counterfeits, I wasn't even aware Amazon might be shipping fakes. Like I said we bought a few dozen so I was looking at price point but assumed Amazon was a trusted source.

->> Not a Lexar lover by any means. I've had 4 8gb cards fail in 2 years. If anyone has Mr. Williams new email address at Micron shoot me a note as dealing with Lexar is a not so funny joke.

->> I found that formatting and "Cleaning up" cards is just like keeping the oil changed in the car. About 5 years back I bought a large Ultra multi card reader and used velcro to adhere to my desk top computer. That way pins do not get bent.

->> Luke, by sheer coincidence (or is it?) this post a few years ago suggests that at any given time, 1/3 of the Sandisk cards in use on the planet are counterfeit:
http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/2011/05/co...

Which doesn't necessarily account for your errors since you got them all at the same time from the same place, but still...
