Image Transfer From D3s to Iphone
David Dennis, Photographer

->> I purchased the cable for an iPhone 5 to try and transfer an image or two from my D3s to my iPhone to be able to send by text message, email, or post to social media while in the field. When I plug the camera into the phone I get a message that says the device is not supported.

Has anyone else come across this and did you end up using an app? I tried to call the Apple customer support and they of course had no clue. They weren't even able to tell me what cameras the adapter, and iOS7 support.

->> I got the same message when trying to transfer from Canon 1DX or Canon 5D Mark III, even though folks in this thread said it would work: http://www.sportsshooter.com/message_display.html?tid=42232

Also on iPhone 5.

->> Nope Dennis, haven't gotten it to work. I've had the cables but didn't realize it was possible until I read the above quoted thread. I thought, "that'd be easy", but, haven't gotten it to work.

->> Still searching online and from what I can find so far it may have to do with the USB mode. The D3s is supposedly supposed to do the switching automatically. But there maybe a flaw in this. Not sure how to test.

->> Well after more looking and a test with my wife's iPad I have figured out that the issue is with the iPhone. Weather Apple needs to release an update to the OS to fix I'm not sure or if it is a hardware issue. But I can import photos from my D3s to an iPad just fine.

->> Just a thought. You could always to a CF to SD adapter. The SD slot could contain the Eye-Fi. Eye-Fi app is on the phone then you can send away...

->> Never mind Corey I see what you were saying. Not really an option though since I have many cards I use and I never know when I would want to use it.

->> You might try using a smaller size card. Under 4 gb. I know that helps when I transfer to my iPad to do the same thing using a card reader.
