Getting Paid

->> I work with a lot of DII institutions (schools, conferences, etc). One of the long time conferences we work with folded, and a few of the schools went to one conference, and the rest formed another conference. We were the official photographers for the "old" conference, one of the longest lived DII/NAIA deals in the nation. We kind of backed into the "official" title 13 tears ago. We marketed to the schools and parents, but were not paid by the conference. One of the new conferences contacted me & asked me to place a bid. I put two buds together, and submitted both. The one they accepted covers my expenses and pays me up front.
The kicker for the conf was that all of the schools will be getting a CD with their pix. Plus we're are creating a poster for each team with a few of their action shots that will have the conf logo and any sponsor logos.
So...moral of the story is: you can get paid for your work. Now I gotta call the other conference!

->> A better situation is when you get paid by the conference/ host city organization, paid travel and board... Oh AND still get to sell prints to the parents and teams. Just a thought for next year.

->> Jeff, I have that in place for this year as well.
Some of the parents from these schools have been customers for years.

Marvin....There are a few differences here:1:I see one error in my post. Do a count on yours. 2: I am not asking pros to spend time to respond in this thread. 3: Maybe I should have sent you an e-mail, but I thought most pros could take constructive criticism. Sorry you saw it as belittlement, it was not meant that way. I even have been physically threatened for that thread.

WV info for your question: The WVSSAC is contracted with a truly pro company, Action Images. It is a two year contact with another 2 year option. They have exclusive rights to sales, but the WVSSAC does not do a good job regulating the enforcement of the contract as per exclusive rights.I would like to see the info when you get it all gathered.

For all Huh?'s: there is thread after thread here complaining about GWC's, agencies asking for free images with photo credit, newspapers firing photographers and having reporters and citizen reporters send in cell phone pix, clients not paying, etc, etc...etc. Just thought folks would like to hear a good story...for once. I have gotten numerous e-mails asking about the contract and how it was put together.

Some days this MB is as bad as FB and Twitter. Can we all get back to making the sports photography world a better place to work in????

"Please be respectful of others, play nice, don't use words that will make us want to wash your mouth out with soap"

So I have to say to all of you to Grow UP! Go Shoot a photo and don't make me block your access to the message board because I will if you keep this kind of nonsense up (here or on any other thread!).
