->> The photojournalism community lost one of its' greatest advocates today. He was a hell of a photographer and an even better person.

->> Mark...couldn't agree more. First met Bill at Rich Clarkson's workshops in Colo. Springs. He was more than generous with his time and valuable assistance at those events, and I learned so much from him. Best of all were the wonderful stories at the evening "sessions" in the lounge. He will be missed... a lot.

->> A nice piece on hime from the NPPA. nppa.org/node/63681

And a great interview with him from the Rich Clarkson Summit Workshops which is where I spent most of my time with him over the last fifteen years.

I'll miss hearing all the great stories from him. Every word that came out of his mouth had a great deal of thought behind it.

->> Can't say enough about Mr. Epperidge, Met him at Clarkson's Workshop (at that time the "Maine Workshop")in '89 when he revisited the Kennedy material for the first time. Then again several years later at the same workshop where he took Getty to Task for their low buy-out rates. I had great respect for the man, he knew what was happening to the industry and wasn't afraid to speak up. He had earned his stripes and my respect for all that he had done. You will be missed...

->> Had a chance to work two LLWS beside him (both more than 20 years ago) ... a great guy - even better shooter - extremely helpful, freely offering advice and insight when asked ... and an awesome sense of humor.

I remember not only being in awe of his images ... also the infinite cache of SI equipment he had in his van ... never saw so many 600 f/4 and 400 f/2.8 lenses outside of B&H ... :-)

->> Eppridge was not only a very talented photographer, but a man with a kind, gentile and generous heart -- along with a wicked sense of humor.

He was one of the instructors among other legends during two Missouri Workshops that I attended in the mid-'70s along with Susan Ford -- the president's daughter. Susan pulled a prank on one of the photo giants and Bill helped orchestrate retaliation by getting her secret service detail to look the other way. She learned an important lesson that night in a small Missouri town -- don't screw with photographers.

->> When he spoke at the Luau some years ago it was one of the most moving moments I have ever heard in my life. The sadness is that he was not heard by so many more.

I would so very much urge everyone to get his book "A Time it Was: Bobby Kennedy in the Sixties"

I am saddened to learn this. RIP Bill; and thank you for all the good you did.

->> Bill was my instructor at the EAW 2000 (go Turquoise!) and I'd kept in touch with him ever since. He would to come out to Clarkson's Photography at the Summit workshops in Jackson quite often so it was always great to catch up. Never a dull moment. It was amazing how I always came away so inspired.

->> Had the privilege to meet him 22 years ago at the Clarkson Sports Workshop in LA. As we spoke on the first day, he noticed another photographer nearby set his cameras on a meeting room table. "NEVER put your cameras on a table, or a chair, or anywhere they can fall from," he chided. Since that day I make sure when I set my cameras down they are on solid ground. RIP Bill.

->> I'm glad I found this thread.

I just saw a post on facebook about Bill Eppridge.

Just before his October 2013 death, he finished the book he was working on -- “The Beatles: Six Days That Changed the World” and It will be published this week.

http://www.rizzoliusa.com/book.php?isbn=9780847841059.

http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/02/03/the-beatles-visit-revisited/?_php=...

I was fortunate to meet him during the 2004 Last Luau. His stories were very entertaining and he was a great photographer.
