Help with Canon 5D Mark II Sticking Shutter

->> When I press the shutter the mirror goes up, the lens stops down but the camera hangs there until I press the shutter release again and then it takes the picture. It's like the camera is in Live View, but I have that turned off, at least I'm as sure as i can be that it is turned off. Nothing shows on the LCD after the first press of the shutter.
This happens in every operating mode except the green box setting for people who don't want to set anything for themselves. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried taking the battery out to reset it.
thanks

->> Nevermind. I finally figured out mirror lock up was turned on. I didn't understand how to read the custom function dialogs.
