->> I'll be heading to Sacramento Feb 14 for a wedding. We'll be in SF on Friday and I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions for SF on Friday? I've been once before so you can rule out more of the touristy stuff.
What about Sacramento? The wedding is early Sat afternoon so I'll have the rest of the day to myself.
Thoughts? |

->> Michael, I'd recommend bike riding the American River bike trail in Sacramento. The trail goes up to Folsom, it's a nice ride. The foothills have a some nice wine tasting tours, perhaps consider that? Of course, Napa isn't far from either SF or Sacto.
For Chinese food in Sacto, recommend New Canton on Broadway in Downtown Sacto and King's in West Sacto.
Hope this helps,
- Ed |

->> Hmm... Biking probably isn't going to happen. :)
But, the Chinese food suggestion is definitively appreciated.
Anyone here want to meet up?
What are some good places for night shots? |

->> hi michael,
if you are in sacramento, you are but 30 miles away from a historic landmark of national significance, and of particular importance to the chinese-american community in the bay area.
this would be the whole town of locke, california, and the photo book "bitter melon" book was devoted to it, and to its residents. today, locke is something of a ghost town.

other links about locke follow.
if you are interested, i can put you in touch with one of locke's native sons, himself a photojournalist and california chinese history buff. he would also be your go-to guy for delta-area references for chinese food (and would likely insist on accompanying you). let me know,
have fun!!

| ->> Hit Muir woods, or the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield. UC Davis is really close as well. If you head east, there's Donner pass and Reno. |
